How to Make a Bike Wheel Chandelier

Do you have an old bicycle rim hanging around your house? Are you a bike enthusiast looking for a new décor for your ceiling? Why not make a chandelier from an old bike rim?

StepsEdit

  1. 1
    Find an old bike rim.
  2. 2
  3. 3
Clean it thoroughly. Be sure to remove any dirt, grease and rust that remains on the wheel.
  4. 4
    Obtain a pendant lighting kit.
  5. 5
Cut a shower curtain rod so that it is about 20 inches (50.8 cm) long (depending on the height of your ceiling)
  6. 6
  7. 7
  8. 8
Make a knot (wire) on the end of the rod to secure the wire. This will prevent the parts from moving out of position when the chandelier is hung.
  9. 9
Screw a hook into your ceiling.
  10. 10
Tie a knot or secure the wiring with a ziptie. Connect the wire to a power source.
  11. 11
Screw a bulb and turn it on to test. Congratulation, you're done!
